The Fedora Design Team is The Fedora Project's in-house design agency. It provides design services to the Fedora project, a global free software community. As an Outreachy intern, I created designs, infographics and templates for Fedora's initiatives and events.
The timeline of the project was three months, from May’20 to Aug’20. Instead of producing all the deliverables at the end, we planned the project to ensure a constant flow of deliverables throughout the three months. This ensured that the feedback I received on one deliverable would carry on to the next. Different deliverables had different time lengths, spanning from one week to two months.
I worked on the following projects during my internship.
One of the major projects I worked on was designing the infographics for Fedora’s various interest groups. The purpose of the infographics was to highlight the achievements of the various contributors, explain the work done by each group in a non-technical way and recruit more contributors.
All the infographics can be found here.
The infographics were a hit in the community, and were used in various presentations, blogs, social media channels etc. It was even converted into a template to be used future events and teams.

Another fun project was designing the cover for the Fedora Zine. The zine is a guide for future contributors and a fun way for Fedorans to express and showcase their creativity. The zine cover features a textured, handpainted aesthetic to pay homage to original, handmade zines. I also designed some graphics and a special badge for the zine.

I designed a template for the Fedora yearly and quarterly budget reports. The Fedora Project needed accurate and easy-to-produce reports for their budget. An editable template will allow anyone to complete this task in the future. The requirements were for the template to be consistent with Fedora branding and have a modern and slick look.
